Katy Perry recently opened up about her time on The Ellen Show with host Ellen DeGeneres.
The singer’s positive recall came in the heels of allegations that DeGeneres is a mean girl. The funny woman has also been accused of being a phony for not practicing kindness towards the staff and employees on Ellen Show.
On her Twitter account, the “Roar” singer said that she only has positive takeaways from her time on Ellen Show.
“I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow,” Perry wrote.
A day earlier, DeGeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi declared that she’s standing by her wife amid the criticisms. The Scandal star also used the hashtag #IStandByEllen to show her support to the comedian.
De Rossi didn’t also forget to use the hashtag #bekindtooneanother, which is a mantra that DeGeneres has been using on her program.
Perry and de Rossi’s support for DeGeneres came after some publications wondered why no one was defending the talk show host from her critics.
Jennifer Aniston and the Kardashian-Jenner family were called out for not voicing their support for DeGeneres even though they’re very close to her.
Meanwhile, Perry previously appeared on Ellen Show and she and DeGeneres had a hilarious banter. However, several YouTube sites tagged Perry as one of the celebrities that allegedly called out the comedian.
During the interview, Perry mentioned that she had been married before and DeGeneres couldn’t seem to remember who was the singer’s former husband. Perry had to remind DeGeneres that she was married to Russell Brand before.
The “Daisies” singer also reminded the funny woman that she even gave them a wedding present. DeGeneres then remembered and she and Perry had a good laugh.
In related news, former Ellen Show DJ Tony Okungbowa is the latest person to say that he witnessed toxicity while working on the daytime program.
“While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment and I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward,” he said.
Okungbowa worked on Ellen Show as a resident DJ from 2003 to 2006 and from 2007 to 2013.
