Sony has bought the newest biopic based on the life of Whitney Houston and titled I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The studio’s decision to pick up the biopic is supposed to have been guided by the enormous success of recent biopics such as Elton John’s Rocketman and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Besides the purchase, the studio has also laid down the plans for the promotion and release of the film – as per reports, the Whitney Houston biopic will be theatrically released around the Thanksgiving of 2022.
Not only Sony but the biopic has got a few more big names associated with it - the writer of Bohemian Rhapsody Anthony McCarten is all set to put down the story of Houston's life in the form of a film script. Giving life to McCarten’s screenplay will be The Photograph director Stella Meghie.
Meghie and McCarten have both worked on similar kinds of movies, so their collaboration is sure to be amazing and may even give out something unique as both are reputed to have great creativity.
It is fair to declare that all the odds are in their favor – they will create a wonder of a movie as their experience is sure to help them like guiding lights. Apart from direction and screenwriting, popular music producer Clive Davis is producing the singer’s biopic.

Houston kicked off her career with 1985’s self-titled album which featured ballads such as Saving All My Love For You and Greatest Love Of All - that are still cherished by music critics. In addition to the music career, the film will also catalog her acting career that started with 1992’s The Bodyguard opposite Kevin Costner.
Since it’s a biopic, the bits of her personal life and tragedy won’t be left untouched. From the summary of the latest biopics, it doesn’t seem wrong to say that Whitney Houston’s overall career graph alongside her personal life will be on the big screen.
