Kate Middleton has been accused of being a snob because she didn’t, allegedly, make Meghan Markle feel welcome when the latter joined the royal family.
But according to royal author Katie Nicholl, this isn’t entirely the case.
When rumors swirled that Middleton and Markle were feuding, the Duchess of Cambridge extended an olive branch to her sister-in-law to mend their rift. However, it was Markle who refused to cooperate.
Nicholl said that Middleton gave Markle flowers to help mend the tension between them. But the Duchess of Sussex gave Prince William’s wife a cryptic message.
“Meghan told Kate in no uncertain terms that flowers were not enough,” Nicholl said.
In the book Finding Freedom, Markle told authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that Middleton froze her out on at least one occasion.
The in-laws were, reportedly, going to the same venue but Middleton refused to give Markle a ride. Still, the authors said that there’s no bad blood between the in-laws. They simply didn’t develop a close relationship with each other because they didn’t know each other well.
However, a source told Daily Mail that Middleton never froze Markle out. In fact, the future queen consort has always been welcoming to the Suits alum.
Unfortunately, Markle, allegedly, had unrealistic expectations that the Cambridges and the royal family would roll the red carpet out for her. And when they didn’t, she accused them of freezing her out.
The source also told the publication that Middleton was the one that invited Markle at the Royal Box in Wimbledon so that they could get to know each other.
Meanwhile, there are also claims suggesting that the Sussexes are jealous of the Cambridges. Prince Harry and Markle can’t, allegedly, stomach the fact that they will never be king and queen of Britain.
Prince Harry and Markle also became upset when they realized that Queen Elizabeth forgot to include their photo during her Christmas address.
“They felt it was proof that they were not a fundamental part of the institution,” a source said in Finding Freedom.
More details about the Cambridges and Sussexes relationship is unveiled in Finding Freedom. The Kindle version of the book will be available starting August 11. Hardbound and paperback editions will be available starting August 20.
