Meghan Markle is known for her signature-style “messy bun” but her hairstylist likes to call her a modern princess.
While Markle’s hairstylist gives reason for her “messy bun”, the “Suits” alum has been criticized for sporting an untidy hairstyle during one of her engagements. However, the Duchess of Sussex was also talked about for her unique hairstyle while participating in different royal engagements before getting married to Prince Harry.
Several people called her controversial hairstyle a “messy bun.” Some followers have showered her with compliments for it while others slammed her hairstyle. The reason for this heavy criticism is that royals are always immaculate and the Duchess’ messy hairstyle was regarded by them as untidy.
George Northwood, Markle’s hairstylist spoke about her hairdo. He explained how they decided to do Markle’s trademark hairstyle, as well as, zeroed in on her wedding day hairdo. Northwood feels that they succeeded in accomplishing the desired look.
Northwood spoke to British Vogue and said that he wished to reveal the positive experience he had while styling Markle’s hair. According to him, “the messy bun” complies with royal protocol while also making Prince Harry’s wife look modern at the same time. The hairstylist also shared that they did not want a formal hairstyle and instead opted for what he likes to call “refined imperfection.”
Northwood met her for the first time in 2018 and the duo got along instantly. The hairstylist was with Markle during her tours to countries like Tonga, New Zealand, and Austria. The Duke of Sussex and his wife were on a three-week trip to these Commonwealth countries then.
Northwood also explained that he styles her hair based on the occasion, as well as, the outfit she has chosen to wear. He was also full of praises for Markle for having a keen sense of style. Northwood feels that the Duchess can be called a modern princess whom everyone can easily relate to.
In 2018, Meghan Markle was seen in her messy hairstyle while accompanying her husband in Brixton. Some royal followers were quick to criticize her hairdo and one of them even referred to it as an “untidy knot.”
A few followers even asked when the Duchess would take help to change her wardrobe or get a coach to style her hair properly (via Little Things). Her hairstyle was slammed when the couple inaugurated a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire.
Meghan Markle had allowed her traces to flow freely but the day was windy and she was snapped with her hair all over the face. Some of the royal followers did not like her disheveled appearance then. Some had even suggested that she should tie her hair up.
