Fleabag stars are coming together for HBO's His Dark Materials. It is author Phillip Pullman's adaptation of novels, which are based on a fantasy trilogy. The second season of the series will begin at the end of 2020.
The series will introduce new members in the cast such as Andrew Scott. The actor will be portraying the father of William. Scott will play a character named John Parry who is also known as Jopari or Stanislaus Grumman.
The 43-year-old actor revealed that the Fleabag's star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is going to be an essential part of the second installment. The actor disclosed this information during the Comic-Con virtual panel held on July 23.
Waller-Bridge will be heard in the series as John Parry's daemon voice. Scott said that his character has a connection with the voice of his daemon. During the virtual interview, the actor said that it’s the first revelation made from his end.
The Alice Through the Looking Glass star also said he is thrilled that someone who is well-known to him off-screen, will be portrayed as his daemon. As soon as the actor announced, the producers and co-actors present in the virtual event pretended to be surprised by the news.
"I'm really thrilled about that because it's all about companionship and friendship and loyalty, and that's how I feel about Phoebe in my real life. It's wonderful that that's happening," Scott added. It is the first time that Scott has collaborated with His Dark Materials series in the second season.
Scott mentioned it was intimidating and exciting to be a part of this franchise. Lin-Manuel Miranda will be seen as Scott's companion in most of the scenes. Miranda plays Lee Scoresby's character and he was part of the first season as well.
However, the 40-year-old actor is worried about messing up in the second installment. Miranda shared that spending time with Scott almost every day of the week, felt amazing. While he hesitated initially to share something about Scott, eventually talked about his obsessions.
Miranda said that Scott has no clue how it feels to be in the same hot air balloon while the Fleabag series is at its peak. The actor recalled that being in the same balloon made them really good friends. Scott acknowledged when Miranda shared about their first bounding happened because of the Judge Judy TV show. Both the actors are huge fans of the 1996 show.
