Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit The Firm in January, but they are still, reportedly, keeping their Instagram account.
Following their Megxit, the royal dropped the royal titles. And they also cut all associations with the royal family.
Prince Harry and Markle stopped using their Sussex Royal Instagram account, but they still haven’t created a new one.
While speaking with Femail, brand strategist Phil Pallen said that there is potentially a strategic reason why the couple’s Instagram account hasn’t been deleted. He said that this could be a clever PR tactic.
Since the royal couple’s account has $11 million, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly, don’t want to lose their followers. Pallen also said that it’s possible for Prince Harry and Markle to already be working on their new Instagram account for Archewell.
“If Harry and Meghan still have authority over the Instagram account, I suspect that Harry and Meghan will pivot the Sussex Royal account to Archewell when the non-profit is ready for its public reveal,” he said.
Pallen also likened the Sussex Royal Instagram account to waterfront real estate. After all, digital real estate is, reportedly, everything.
“While the account isn't being utilized to its full potential right now, it's a symbol of legacy, and it's a powerful tool for communicating important messages to a devout audience,” he said.
“The Sussex Royal account grants prime access to an audience that's emotionally invested in the Royal family's journey; transferring or disposing of the account would potentially sever ties with loyal fans,” he added.
Prince Harry and Markle’s last post on Instagram was a message of gratitude to their millions of followers.
“Thank you to this community for the support, inspiration, and the shared commitment to the good in the world,” the post was signed by Prince Harry and Markle.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle also made headlines this week after they greeted Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi following their royal wedding. The Sussexes didn’t make it to the private ceremony in Windsor Castle because they are in Los Angeles.
According to People, the Sussexes sent Princess Beatrice and Mozzi their good wishes privately.
Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t also attend the royal wedding. But the Cambridges also sent their well-wishes to Princess Beatrice and Mozzi.
The couple decided to tie the knot with only 20 guests, including Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank, and Mozzi’s side of the family.
