Amber Heard’s former assistant, Kate James, accused the actress of faking her assault story against Johnny Depp.
During this week’s hearing, James took the stand to expose the dirt on her former boss. James revealed that she was a victim of sexual assault and she shared her harrowing experience with Heard.
The Aquaman star then, allegedly, used James' sexual assault story and tweaked it to make it seem as though she’s a real victim. Heard’s former assistant said that she was shocked to hear Heard’s complaint because it seemed oddly familiar to what she experienced.
“This of course caused me extreme distress and outrage that she would dare to attempt to use the most harrowing experience of my life as her own narrative,” James said.
Heard’s former assistant also revealed how she always saw Heard drinking at least two glasses of wine at night. James also said that she has never seen Depp being abusive towards his ex-wife.
However, there were times when James witnessed Heard taunting and provoking Depp. But the Pirates of the Caribbean actor was, reportedly, almost always very patient with his ex-wife.
Ben King also spoke in court to defend Depp. He said that he never saw the actor taking drugs other than those few times that he smoked weed.
He also said that there was a time when he saw cuts on Heard’s arm. And when he encouraged her to cover them because the paparazzi might take photos, the actress, reportedly, refused.
King also echoed James’ statements about Heard and Depp’s drinking and alleged abusive nature. He said that it was Heard that was oftentimes drinking and she was also the one who’s always taunting her ex-husband.
Several other staff members of Depp have come forward to defend him against Heard’s allegations. Kevin Murphy, the actor’s estate manager, also revealed how Heard encouraged him to lie under oath.
Murphy said that Heard asked him to contact James and to encourage the latter to also lie under oath.
“Amber wielded a lot of power and might make my life miserable,” Murphy said.
Depp filed a lawsuit against The Sun’s publisher, NGN, and its editor, Dan Wooton for publishing a story where they called the actor a wife-beater.
The Edward Scissorhands star has since denied the claims but Wooton and the tabloid’s publisher are arguing that they were right to call him a wife-beater.
