American rapper and singer Future, on July 8, gives back through launching the I’m Still a Dreamer scholarship exclusively for Georgia fresh high school graduates who plan in entering college. The scholarship scheme is supported under the umbrella of Future’s own FreeWishes Foundation: “delivering messages of hope, perseverance, and resilience to our community.”

In an article by NME, referencing from the rapper’s press statement: "You don’t have to be in the perfect situation or come from the perfect background to reach for your dreams,” Future said. “Despite this Covid-19 pandemic, I encourage all dreamers to continue to dream big," he added.

In order to be nominated to accept the scholarship, the Georgia high school graduates, who are supposedly to enroll in college in the school year 2020 second semester, should shoot and submit a personalized video stating how the COVID-19 global pandemic caused by the coronavirus has greatly impacted their education.  The said applicants are required to have a minimum of a 3.00 grade point average. The maximum grant award is at $2,500.

FreeWishes Foundation is founded by Grammy Award winner and hip-hop tycoon Future, co-founded with his Mother Stephanie Jester and Sister Tia Wilburn-Anderson. The notable non-charitable organization aims in making a difference in the lives of Atlanta locals by aiding support. FreeWishes Foundation has been helping people for over eight years, hosting annual events that cater 25,000 attendees in Georgia.

The 36-year-old rapper has previously granted the FreeWishes College Scholarship to a fan at each tour stop, alongside co-headliner Meek Mill. The scholarship grant also comes with two tickets to Future’s Legendary Nights Tour and an exclusive sweatshirt from the rapper’s “I’m A Dreamer” merchandise.

According to the organization’s statement, the applications submitted will be reviewed thoroughly by a panel of judges. Submissions’ deadline will be on July 27 at 3 P.M. and winners of the said “I’m Still A Dreamer” scholarship will be revealed on August 4th, which will also receive a “I Am A Dreamer” hoodie.

Since the COVID-19 began in the U.S., Future has been very active in helping to stop the spread of the virus. His very own foundation, FreeWishes Foundation, has led a “Mask On” campaign, inspired from Future’s “Mask Off” hit-track. The said campaign partners with Atlanta Sewing Style, an Atlanta-based sewing company, in producing and giving away more than 100,000 masks to local hospitals, health facilities, and relief centers [Complex].

In May, Future released his “High Off Life” album that features various artists like Drake, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and DaBaby. The new album composes 21 tracks.
