English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa dropped her newest music video on Youtube for the track "Hallucinate." But, there’s a catch!
Dua Lipa was transformed into an animated character for the mind-expanding music video. Per Billboard, the trippy music video is all-inspired from the Studio 54, 1960’s Zap Comix, Adventure Time, Mickey Mouse, and Superjail: all hailing from different cartoon eras. The music video starts with doors opening and leading the scene to an outlandish world of moving vegetables, unicorns, popping stars, human-like ice cream cones, and odd-looking clowns.
Dua Lipa’s new music video has earned the praise of her fans around the world, and even before the video was launched, Dua Lipa’s attention was caught by one creative fan that remixed the song with the BBC News theme. The mash-up then went viral and had Dua Lipa comment to the remix.
As of writing, Dua Lipa’s new ‘Hallucinate’ music video has over 1.6 million views, which is also available for streaming over the immersive 360 Reality Audio if you wear your headphones.
The psychedelic 4-minute clip is directed, designed, animated, and edited by The Mill, a London based VFX and Creative studio. The animated Dua Lipa can be seen all over the music video under the thumping and exhilarated beat power of ‘Hallucinate’.
"Hallucinate" is the latest single from Dua Lipa’s sophomore album, "Future Nostalgia," which was released under Warner Records in March of this year. The evocative album then was listed as one of Rollings Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2020 – so far. From an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, the 24-year-old pop star expressed the difficulty in releasing an album amid the uncertainty of the pandemic caused by the coronavirus. However, that difficult decision has brought the singer another achievement as the album is breaking records until today. “I wasn’t sure if it was really the time to put it out — to celebrate, I guess, during a time of so much suffering,” she said.
Prior to "Hallucinate," Dua Lipa’s "Physical," "Don’t Start Now," and "Break My Heart" already soared up above the different song charts globally. And for the album itself, upon release, climbed its way up to the no. 1 spot in Australia and in U.K., also peaking at the Billboard 200 no. 4 spot.
For the time being, Dua Lipa’s manager spilled out some details about the pop star collaborating with Madonna, citing the huge influence of Madona’’s "Confessions On A Dancefloor" to Dua Lipa’s "Future Nostalgia." Well, it’s something everyone will all wait for.
