It is difficult to find success in Hollywood and every actor who got successful has a story regarding their audition. Yes, even Chris Evans has shared his challenges before portraying Captain America. The actor got the role and won many hearts playing one of the key superheroes of Marvel.
However, the 37-year-old actor has turned towards television now after gaining success on the big screen. Evans started his dream role in 2011 as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger. Even before getting into Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cap, the actor had been a part of Fantastic Four movies, which was again a Marvel production.
Captain America and Iron Man, which was portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. were key heroes of the entire MCU. While Evans was an essential superhero in all the films created by Marvel, Avengers: Endgame turned out to be huge for Evans.
Even after working with Steve Rogers' character for almost a decade, the actor decided to leave the franchise. Even from the storyline's point of view, Captain America received a perfect ending for his character. Leaving the most loved franchise wasn't easy for the actor as it meant that whatever project he picks next is going to be heavily criticized by fans.
Right after Evans left MCU, he was seen featured in Knives Out. It was a murder mystery film directed by Rian Johnson and received a huge box office collection along with Oscar nomination. However, the actor will be seen on an online streaming platform, Apple TV+ for his upcoming venture Defending Jacob.
In an interview, Evans told Deadline the reason he switched to television after giving successful movies on the big screen. The actor believes that in the past two decades the distance between television and movies have been seen clearly.
There are various projects on television that consist of unbelievable storytelling as streaming is also available now. The actor admitted that he wanted to work with creators of this series, Morten Tyldum who directed and Mark Bomback who wrote the screenplay.
Defending Jacob's creative team is no doubt great as Bomback had worked on movies such as The Wolverine and War for the Planet of the Apes before. Also, Tyldum worked with Benedict Cumberbatch and has been nominated for The Imitation Game in the Academy Awards for his direction. Considering his work on television, the 53-year-old director had delivered shows such as Jack Ryan and Counterpart.
