A viral Instagram post showing entertainer B. Simone with rapper DaBaby turned out to just be a clever piece of marketing for the rapper’s music video for his new song, “Find My Way.”
According to Complex, DaBaby revealed the truth when he commented “#MarketingQueen” under B. Simone’s Instagram post.
Over on his own Instagram account, DaBaby released a preview for the music video for “Find My Way.” B. Simone, as it turns out, is one of the music video’s stars.
Before the reveal, people took the Instagram post as confirmation that DaBaby and B. Simone were in a relationship. As the Inquisitr points out, even if DaBaby’s face wasn’t visible on the Instagram post, his hand tattoos can be seen, especially since his hands are cupping B. Simone’s backside. The site took the placement of the rapper’s hands as confirmation of the relationship. Inquisitr also noted the simple emoji caption as a sign that the two were indeed an item.
B. Simone’s fans were happy for the entertainer, especially since she had made no secret of her attraction to the rapper.
In previous Instagram posts, B. Simone had joked about her willingness to be a stepmother to DaBaby’s two children and even debated whether she should call the rapper “zaddy,” “king,” or “baby boy.”
The Instagram post even worked as great marketing for B. Simone, even before it was revealed to be an actual marketing ploy. The entertainer has a book coming out entitled “Baby Girl Manifest The Life You Want” and B. Simone’s 4.3 million Instagram followers took her picture with DaBaby as proof that she had indeed manifested a relationship with the rapper.
One fan remarked that they were now going to get a copy of her book, while another wished for the photo to be proof of an actual relationship and not a promotion for her book. Yet another one said that she is manifesting herself a relationship “in the spirit of B. Simone.”
Another fan noted that since the picture was posted, B. Simone’s book has sold out and called the whole affair “marketing f*****g genius.”
DaBaby -- real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk -- first got the general public’s attention when his debut album, “Baby on Baby,” went all the way to number seven on the Billboard 200 album chart. His sophomore release, “Kirk,” debuted at number one and also produced the hit singles, “Bop,” “Intro,” and “Suge,” all of which made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
