The anime and manga industry in Japan, like any other entertainment industry, suffered major blows after the coronavirus pandemic hit the world.

In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan announced the state of emergency on April 16, Comicbook reported. All the major animation studios had to curtail their productions. They announced that keeping the safety of the staff paramount, it is crucial to delay the episodes and manga chapters.

However, several anime shows are returning with new episodes in the Summer 2020 anime season starting July 2020.

Here is the list of anime series making a comeback from the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus.

  1. Appare Ranman: The anime will be resuming with new episodes from July 3.
  2. Assault Lily Bouquet: New installments will from October. However, the makers have not announced the release date.
  3. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Episode 155 aired on Sunday, July 5, 2020. The series will introduce the new Kara Activation arc from July 19.
  4. Digimon Adventure: The anime resumed broadcast of new episodes from June 7.
  5. Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater: The show is airing episodes from July 7.
  6. Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate: The makers resumed production from July 3.
  7. EX-ARM: This anime is slated to return in fall.
  8. Hakushon Daimao 2020: The eighth episode aired on June 20.
  9. “Haikyuu!!” Season 4 Second Half: Part 2 of the fourth season will air in the winter session.
  10. Dropout Idol Fruit Tart: The anime series is scheduled to air episodes in October 2020.
  11. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III: The series postponed until summer and a new date is yet to be announced.
  12. Maesetsu!: The anime show will return in October 2020.
  13. No Guns Life: The second half of the anime will air in July.
  14. Re: ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Season 2: New episodes will air from July 8.
  15. Strike the Blood IV Volume 2: The series will make a comeback from July 29.
  16. Skate-Leading Stars: The anime series will be out in July.
  17. The Misfit of Demon King Academy: New episodes of the show started airing from July 4.
  18. The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2: This series will be out in 2021.
  19. Warlords of Sigrdrifa: New episodes of the series will be out in October 2020.

Apart from anime series, several anime movies are delayed to a later date in 2020 and 2021. The movies include A Whisker Away, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, Doraemon Nobita’s New Dinosaur, Josee the Tiger and the Fish, Looking for Magical DoReMi, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathway and many more.
