Tom Hanks recently explained in detail about his experience battling with COVID-19 and symptoms such as fatigue and body aches for almost half a month. The actor wasn't afraid of the virus, which was also the case with his wife Rita Wilson.
Hanks got infected with coronavirus in March during his shooting in Australia, the couple was the first celebrities to get diagnosed with the COVID-19 and were immediately admitted to the hospital for three days.
In an interview with The Guardian, the 63-year-old actor told that the discomfort he and his wife Wilson faced were gone in two weeks while the reaction to our bodies was different from one another, which felt odd.
The actor further revealed that Wilson lost a sense of smell and taste and had a high fever with severe nausea while on the other hand, the Forrest Gump star had crippling body aches and felt exhausted throughout. He had trouble concentrating on anything for even short span of time.
Hanks revealed that the only thing he was worried about was his diabetes and asked doctors that being 63-year-old and having type 2 diabetes shows a red flag? To which doctors explained to the actor that as long as his temperature does not reach a certain level and his lungs don’t fill up with pneumonia then there is nothing to be worried about.
Hanks said that he is not one of those who wonder every morning if they will survive or not. He is pretty calm about it. Being one of the most respected and treated as a father figure was asked how he looks at the people responding to the situation where the cases are reaching 100,000 per day.
Hanks replied that there are just simple things that people need to follow in order to keep the situation under control, wash hands properly, keep a social distance from one another, and put on a mask. He acknowledged the fact that these little precautions are getting politicized and he is disappointed with that.
However, Hanks urged people to follow the basics and do their part to ensure that everyone around them is safe from this pandemic. He mentioned that he always looked up to the leader for informed guidance and keeping everybody calm while currently, that's what the country is lacking. However, Hanks told that he never carries around too much anger with him and tries to be kind and nice.
