13 Reasons Why released its final season on June 5, which earned diverse reactions and comments from the viewers. Avid followers of the show have expressed their sympathies to the bereaved characters of the said series, including Bryce Walker, Hannah Baker, Josh Hamilton, Monty de la Cruz, and Justin Foley. Aside from that, fans have been questioning why Hannah Baker, who portrayed by Australian actress Katherine Langford, is a no-show during its last episode.
Why Hannah Baker did not appear in the finale episode?
Fans are not that dismayed though, because the actress herself was very open about her new stunt on Netflix even before the announcement of the series’ fourth and last season. Per Digital Spy, the primary reason why her character does not appear much in the series is the conflict in her schedule. Most, if not all, fans are aware that Katherine is also a cast in fantasy series titled Cursed.
The Australian actress, in her recent interview with Digital spy, said that she “wasn’t able to go in and shoot anything.” It was the first time Langford, a Golden Globe Award nominee, opened up regarding the series’ finale ever since the Cursed announcement.
Katherine Langford, also, took the chance to congratulate her friends in the series and expressed her gratefulness to the production for making her a huge part of 13 Reasons Why.
“Closing that chapter was such a special part instilled in all of our lives,” the actress stated, pertaining to Alisha Boe (Jessica), Christian Navarro (Tony), and Dylan Minnette (Clay). Katherine also disclosed the fact that she and her former castmates are still very close in many ways -- thanks to the series.
13 Reasons Why has received numerous backlash because of the sensitivity of its scenes, which that tackle some relevant issues the youth is facing now, which include suicide, drugs, and teenage pregnancy.
The series is based on the adult novel of Jay Asher, who started the plot of Katherine’s character Hannah Baker leaving cassette tapes that explains the reasons of her death.
Katherine severed with the series on the second season. The actress even posted on her Instagram on 2018 with a caption saying, “Hannah…I love you…and I let you go,” in remembrance of her character.
Hannah Baker will always be remembered
On the brighter side of the story, the production of the series did not dismay the fans. Even with Katherine’s unavailability to shoot, the series’ managed to do a special cameo taken from the Winter Formal scene in Season 1. The scene pertains to the part where Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette, walked through Hannah Baker in the Liberty High’s basketball court shortly after the graduation ceremonies.
