The public has witnessed the close bond of Prince William and Prince Harry since they were young boys. Their tight relationship continued even though the Duke of Cambridge got married to Kate Middleton in 2011 and had children.
However, things began to change when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in 2018. Whispers and speculations of a feud between the Cambridges and Sussexes started to make their rounds on the internet, especially after the latter couple decided to remove themselves from the joint foundation and created their own charity.
After that, Prince William and Prince Harry were believed to not be on good terms anymore. But even though their gestures seemingly hinted that they are feuding, there was no confirmation about their fallout.
Then last November, Prince Harry seemingly admitted the alleged feud with Prince William in the TV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. Although he didn’t elaborate as to how it all started and what really happened, he did admit that they are “on different paths.”
Now, a royal expert Robert Lacey claimed that he knows the real reason for Prince William and Prince Harry’s rift. He said in his new book “Battle of Brother’s: William and Harry - the Friendship and the feuds” that their different futures created tensions between the pair.
“We have seen conflicts between the heir and spare in every recent generation of the royal family — but nothing so profound as this,” he said.
Royal experts and researchers have shared their thoughts on Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud. Journalist Jeremy Paxman even suggested that the Duke of Cambridge is jealous of his younger brother’s freedom.
Jeremy Paxman claimed that Prince William told his mother Princess Diana that he had no desire to become king. As a young boy, the Duke of Cambridge may have seen his future role as something that he couldn’t handle.
Even though Princess Diana tried to give Prince William and Prince Harry normal childhood experiences, their lives as members of the Royal family are certainly far from being average. That being said, Prince William knew that being the King of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms is not an easy task.
But fast forward to today, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are two of the most popular and well-loved members of the Royal family. Even though the Duke of Cambridge wasn’t so keen on becoming King when he was younger, he’s fitting the role more and more each day. He and Prince Harry are also, reportedly, mending their relationship.
