Meghan Markle allegedly made secret calls to her ex-husband, Trevor Engelson without informing Prince Harry beforehand.
According to Life & Style, the Duchess of Sussex was worried after learning about Engelson’s plans to release a comedy series inspired by their past relationship.
Markle allegedly thinks that it would be humiliating for Engelson to talk about their relationship especially since she’s already married to the Duke of Sussex. As such, she called Engelson and asked him to ditch his plans.
Reports about Engelson’s project with Fox first came to light in 2017, shortly after Markle and Prince Harry got engaged. And the updates regarding the project quickly died down.
An unnamed source claimed that the Suits alum had a hand in the cancelation of the project after she asked Engelson to not push through with it. Luckily for Markle, Engelson agreed. But only because Markle gave him an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
The dubious claims made by the tabloid became even more questionable after Prince Harry was mentioned in the story. The source claimed that Prince Harry would be devastated to know that his wife called Engelson behind his back.
The tabloid’s storyline seems to suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are keeping secrets from each other. And this could be the start of their alleged marital problems.
But if Markle really reached out to Engelson to ditch his comedy series, she would’ve informed Prince Harry about it. After all, Markle and Engelson have both moved on from each other. So, there’s no reason for Markle to keep things from Prince Harry.
Meanwhile, the unnamed source also claimed that Markle and Engelson didn’t end things on a positive note. Before Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry, reports swirled that she just dumped Engelson out of nowhere.
In the documentary Meghan Markle: Movies, Marriage & Motherhood, royal correspondent Ashley Pearson said that it was Markle’s flourishing career that ended her marriage to Engelson.
After landing her role as Rachel Zane in Suits, Pearson said that Markle became a bonafide celebrity. This was the first time that she graced the red carpet and was photographed by the paparazzi.
As such, Markle went through a big adjustment during this time and it all happened away from home.
Before Suits, Markle and Engelson lived in Los Angeles. But just months later, the actress moved to Canada, where her TV series was filmed. Pearson said that the distance between the exes became a huge factor in their split.
