Melania Trump made her appearances in a couple of coronavirus PSAs (public service announcements) and took to her Twitter handle to share details about her attendance. An expert took a closer look at the clip and noticed something peculiar about the body language of the first lady of the United States.
During an interview with Express, body language specialist Judi James deemed Melania's first public service announcements as "risky." Moreover, James compared the PSA video with clips of the Kardashian clan, explaining why it was impossible to take them seriously.
According to James, the PSA video suggests what can be described as a risky approach in the UK, wherein posting a ‘We’re all in this together’ message in the Kardashian style, slated to be watched by people sitting at home, wearing joggers and dressing gowns, while totally neglecting the inability to arrange for enough toiler papers.
James says Melania’s laid-back body language clearly suggests that she wants to motivate by making everyone believe that everything in the White House is still normal. On top of that, the body language expert noticed Melania’s gestures and hairstyle in the video, which was reportedly coming up short.
"Her hair is swept carefully over one shoulder in a style that would prohibit movement and not one of those hairs moves out of place as she speaks," James points out. Aside from that, gesticulation is missing - even the basic ‘mime’ gestures that would come naturally while instructing people to wash their hands was lacking as well.
These gesticulations are replaced with short, constant fluctuation that is clearly evident in her entire body language as she talks. This undulation, coupled with her intermittent eye-narrowing, diverts the attention to her beauty and represents a clam state instead of panic, James explained.
Another positive note pointed out by the expert implies Melania’s body language was quite reassuring as it encourages the concepts of continuity and stability. On the downside, her message "we’re all in this together" sounded contradictory due to the lack of non-verbal empathy in the coronavirus PSAs.

Several netizens agreed with James that the FLOTUS’s coronavirus PSA seemed insincere. One of the Twitter users @PauletteParis1 accused her of not providing "real information." Another Twitter user @longviewsky said America needs isolation wards, ICU beds, respirators, PPE's, financial support, jobs and might even need larger morgues, adding that her platitudes are the last thing the country needs at the moment.
