Donald Trump's niece Mary Trump and former national security advisor John Bolton are restlessly waiting for their Trump-bashing books to be published. Even before these books see the light of day, they have been listed among Amazon’s bestsellers. In a bid to stop the release of Bolton's book, The Justice Department has filed a case against the former Trump aide.
Entitled "The Room Where it Happened," Bolton’s book, as well as Mary Trump's book called "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man," are currently placed among the top-selling books on Amazon, even though they haven't hit the store shelves yet. Slated to release on Tuesday night, Bolton’s book was the number 1 bestseller on Amazon on June 17 based on pre-orders, according to the online retail giant's sales tracker.
The lawsuit suggests Bolton has is yet to undergo a review process that authors with government security clearance are required to pass through. In its emergency application, The Justice Department requested a temporary restraining order along with a preliminary injunction against the former National Security Advisor to stop the publication of the book, NBC reported.
The suit urges the court to arrange for a hearing on Friday, four days ahead of the book's scheduled release. Mary Trump's book, which the president is planning to take legal action against, grabbed the No. 5 spot on the bestseller list on Amazon, over a month ahead of its official publication date.
Ms. Trump's book comes as Trump seeks reelection. Amazon's sales tracker suggests another book about first lady Melania Trump is also selling well on the site. Entitled, "The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump," was on No. 49 on the sales chart just a day after Simon & Schuster published it. Interestingly, Bolton and Mary Trump's books are also being published by Simon & Schuster.
The above-mentioned book, which focuses on how Melania Trump took advantage of newfound leverage to redo prenuptial agreement after election win, has been written by Washington Post journalist Mary Jordan. She accuses the first lady of negotiating the terms of her prenuptial agreement with Donald Trump before moving into the White House with their son, Barron.
A spokeswoman for Melania Trump described it as yet another book about Mrs. Trump teeming with incorrect details and sources. The spokeswoman said Jordan's book needs to placed under the fiction genre.
