David Michael Bautista Jr., popularly known as Dave Bautista paid tribute to George Floyd. The former WWE superstar took to his Instagram account last week to share a black-and-white picture of himself, sporting a couple of new tattoos that drew inspiration from the recent demands for social justice, showing his support for the ongoing demonstrations that triggered after Floyd's death at the hands of a white police officer.
The tattoo on Bautista's left-hand reads, "We The People," which is the Preamble of the United States Constitution. The ink on his right hand referenced Floyd's death as it read "I can't breathe." In the caption section of his black-and-white photo, the Guardians of the Galaxy star urged American people to be relentless in their pursuit of justice.
Bautista encouraged the protesters to not be intimidated as they combat oppression, adding that they are together to remind each other about what they are fighting for. The 54-year-old retired professional wrestler wrote he wanted to forget the incident but will not allow himself to forget as there is a lot at stake.
Acknowledging those fighting for a dream, Bautista concluded his comment with hashtags #OneNation #OneRace #DreamChasers #icantbreathe #WeThePeople." The former mixed martial artist has always been outspoken when it comes to demanding social justice reform in the past, People magazine suggests.
Last week, Bautista took to his Instagram account to support ongoing demonstrations in Washington D.C., where protesters painted Black Lives Matter in massive yellow letters on the city's 16th Street near the White House. In his post, Bautista wrote that his hometown has been painted with a massive beacon of hope and change on the city's streets that point right at the heart of the United States.
Bautista wrote that people demand change and they are all together in this and they aren't willing to go through this again in ten years, adding that people are too united. Furthermore, the former four times WWE World Heavyweight Champion wrote that all lives can't matter unless black lives matter too, using multiple hashtags including #onenation #onerace and #DreamChasers."
This comes amid ongoing protests in the United States as people from different walks of life demand justice for George Floyd and police reforms. These demonstrations started after Floyd's death on May 25. Floyd died after a white police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for over eight minutes, ignoring his pleas "I can't breathe."
