No K-Pop at the 66th Grammy Awards: BTS and Other Groups Fail to Secure Nominations

K-Pop groups have unfortunately failed to secure nominations at the '66th Grammy Awards.'

The Recording Academy, which hosts the 'Grammy Awards,' announced the nominees for the 66th Grammy Awards through a live stream on the 10th (local time).

For this year's '66th Grammy Awards,' various K-Pop groups, including all members of BTS, FIFTY FIFTY, aespa, NCT Dream, Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, TWICE, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, ITZY, IVE, and ATEEZ, submitted entries.

BTS, in particular, caught attention as all seven members - RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook - submitted entries in various categories.

Oldest member Jin challenged for Best Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance with his single 'The Astronaut.' Leader RM submitted his solo album 'Indigo' and its title track 'Wild Flower' for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Music Video.

Suga aimed for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video with his solo album 'D-Day' and its title track 'Haegeum.' J-Hope challenged for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video with 'on the street,' a collaboration with J. Cole. The youngest member V submitted his solo album 'Layover' for Best Pop Vocal Album, and 'Slow Dancing' for Best Pop Solo Performance and Music Video.

The submissions by Jimin and Jungkook, who had topped the U.S. Billboard's main chart 'Hot 100,' garnered much attention. Jungkook aimed for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Music Video with his solo single 'Seven.'

Jimin submitted his solo album 'FACE' for Best Pop Vocal Album and its title track 'Like Crazy' for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video.

Previously, BTS was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with 'Dynamite' at the 63rd Grammy Awards and 'Butter' at the 64th. At the beginning of this year, they were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with the collaboration 'My Universe' with Coldplay and 'Yet To Come' for Best Music Video at the 65th Grammy Awards.

However, BTS, along with other K-Pop groups like NewJeans who simultaneously had three songs on Billboard's 'Hot 100' and FIFTY FIFTY, which hit the U.S. music market with 'Cupid,' failed to secure any nominations, leading to disappointment.

The Grammy Awards, organized by the Recording Academy, comprising singers, producers, recording engineers, and critics, have been held annually since 1959. The '66th Grammy Awards' is scheduled to take place in February next year.
