In a candid conversation, supermodel Gisele Bündchen opened up about the challenges she faced following her divorce from NFL legend Tom Brady, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on her family, and the resilience she's discovered within herself.
"It's been very tough on my family. It's been a lot — in every area of my life," Bündchen shared, reflecting on the tumultuous period surrounding her separation from Brady after 13 years of marriage. The couple, once considered one of the most glamorous in the world of sports and entertainment, finalized their divorce in October 2022. This significant life change led Bündchen to establish a new home in Miami, Florida, while Brady continued his final football season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before announcing his retirement.
Amidst the personal upheavals, the COVID-19 pandemic added another layer of complexity. Bündchen, prioritizing her children's safety, opted to homeschool her son, Benjamin, 13, and daughter, Vivian, 10. However, this year marked a return to in-person learning for the kids in Florida.
Discussing her children's well-being and growth, Bündchen expressed immense pride. "They're getting to know friends in school. They like it. It’s just all new. But they're really liking it and they're getting into their things," she said. Vivian has taken to swimming, joining the school's swim team, while Benjamin, inspired by his father's iconic career, has started playing football, donning the legendary No. 12 jersey.
The supermodel also touched upon her bond with Brady's son from a previous relationship, Jack, 16, emphasizing the close relationship they continue to share.
In addition to managing her family's transitions, Bündchen faced the emotional toll of her parents' declining health. "I think if I didn't have all the different tools that I have to support me during these times, it would've been very hard," she admitted. To cope, Bündchen has incorporated daily workouts into her routine and has given up alcohol to ensure better sleep and a more present state of mind.
Bündchen's journey over the past few years underscores the universal challenges many face in navigating personal and global crises. Yet, through resilience and adaptability, she continues to find strength, setting an example for many on how to embrace change and move forward with grace and determination.
