In a fiery early morning rant on his social media platform, Truth Social, former President Donald Trump launched an attack on his political opponent, President Joe Biden, and the Department of Justice. This outburst came just hours before Trump's scheduled appearance before a federal judge over a new set of criminal charges filed against him.

Trump accused Biden of instructing his Attorney General to charge him, the leading Republican nominee and former President, with as many crimes as possible. He claimed this was a strategy to drain his time and resources in defense. "The Dems don't want to run against me, or they would not be doing this unprecedented weaponization of 'Justice,'" Trump wrote. He assured his followers that in 2024, it would be their turn, ending his message with his campaign slogan, "MAGA!"

The charges Trump faces are related to his alleged attempts to interfere with the election results before and during January 6. The indictment, brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team, accuses Trump of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Trump now faces 78 felony charges in three separate criminal cases. Smith, during a press conference announcing the charges, described the attack on the nation's Capitol on January 6, 2021, as an "unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy." He attributed the attack to lies propagated by Trump aimed at obstructing a fundamental function of the U.S. government: the process of collecting, counting, and certifying the results of the presidential election.

Despite the gravity of the charges, Trump remains defiant. He thanked his supporters for their unwavering support and promised to make America "great again, greater than ever before." As the legal proceedings continue, the world watches closely to see how this unprecedented indictment of a former President will unfold.
