While the United States has now reported the maximum number of coronavirus cases and has surged ahead of even China, “Avengers’ star Evangeline Lilly regretted her controversial comments on the virus last week.
It was just some days ago when the “Avengers” star had remarked that she would not follow the instructions for self-isolation and social distancing. She said she preferred her “freedom” instead, Metro mentions.
Lilly had then dismissed the pandemic virus as just flu and her flippancy angered many. For instance, actress Sophie Turner dubbed her remark as stupid in a clip that she posted on her Instagram post and Maggie Grace asked Lilly to reconsider her stance.
After a heavy backlash for her apparently casual comments, the actor came up with a heartfelt apology for her earlier comments. The actor, who is famous for the TV show, the Marvel films, and the Hobbit movies, offered an apology on Instagram.
Lilly greeted her fans and mentioned that she was writing from her house. The actor also added that she was maintaining a social distance since March 18, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
The 40-year-old actor further mentioned that when she had uploaded her post on 16th Mar., the authorities had directed that more than 250 people cannot gather in a single place and all should wash their hands regularly. However, just after two days, there was a change in those directives. Lilly added that she is doing everything possible to make sure that the curve is flattened.
She was regretful for what she termed as her insensitivity in her earlier post and offered her apologies. Lilly mentioned that the entire world is suffering because of coronavirus.
In her previous post, Lily had likened coronavirus, which has had an impact on more than 500000 people globally and called it simply “respiratory flu.” The Avenger star also compared the current lockdown situations to Marshal Law. Additionally, she had pointed out that she valued her freedom more.
Maggie Grace, her co-star in Lost also remarked on the actor’s original post. Grace had told her to show some empathy. Grace also wondered whether Lilly was aware of how Daniel Dae Kim was doing. Kim has also tested positive for the virus.
Evangeline Lilly also apologized to all such people who are directly affected by the coronavirus. She also meted out her apology to all those who are going through the risk of losing their dear ones because of this pandemic disease.
