Once united by blood, fame, and reality TV, sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian find their bond tested by a burgeoning feud that has been escalating for years. The dispute, which intensified following Kourtney's decision to cut back her filming schedule in 2017 to dedicate more time to her children, came to a head recently over a fashion collaboration.
The rift deepened as Kim, 42, made the decision to collaborate with fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana on a '90s-themed fashion collection. This move, coming only four months after the brand played a pivotal role in Kourtney's Italian wedding to Travis Barker, saw Kourtney, 44, expressing outrage. She accused Kim of "legit copying my wedding" and exploiting her nuptials for business. Kim retorted by labeling Kourtney a "hater".
While some may argue that family feuds are often amplified for the sake of their reality show's ratings, insiders reveal that this disagreement is more than just a ploy. "The discord is palpable. Both sisters are standing their ground, each firm in her belief of being right," a source close to the family disclosed.
On the June 15 episode of The Kardashians, an emotional Kourtney claimed Kim prioritizes money over family ties. Kim defended herself, maintaining she was considerate and instructed the brand to exclude any designs similar to what Kourtney wore at her wedding. She further claimed to have suggested postponing the collaboration by a year.
However, Kim's justification seemed to fall on deaf ears. "The acrimony between them is at an all-time high," the source mentioned. "Kourtney is of the view that Kim betrayed her out of sheer greed, and the monetary factor makes the ordeal more bitter."
Despite Kourtney's previous declaration that she and her sisters would always have each other's back, the present circumstances have put their solidarity into question. Even the announcement of Kourtney's pregnancy in June - she and Travis, 47, are expecting their first child - didn't manage to bridge the widening chasm between the two.
The source added, "It won't come as a shock if Kourtney decides to withdraw from the show. The prevailing stress, compounded by this feud with Kim, is something she can do without." Whether or not the sisters can salvage their relationship remains to be seen.
