The summer showdown of K-pop promises to be a fierce one, as BTS's Jungkook goes solo, while EXO, NCT DREAM, and NewJeans make their long-awaited returns.
The well-loved group EXO is set to release their 7th full-length album, 'EXIST,' on July 10th. This album comes two years after their special album 'DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING' was released in June 2021. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this comeback since the beginning of the year. Despite the challenges and conflicts with Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin, and SM Entertainment, which posed a threat to EXO's full-group activities, the issues were resolved in time for a sequential schedule to take place.
Ahead of 'EXIST', EXO unveiled a pre-release track called 'Hear Me Out.' This R&B song carries an old-school vibe, with lyrics expressing honest feelings towards someone hesitant about starting a new relationship. The chill charm and sweet vocals of EXO stand out, raising expectations for their new appearance after a long time.
Hyolyn is also making a comeback to the music scene, releasing a digital single on July 12th. This is her first release since her third mini-album 'iCE,' released on July 18th last year. According to her agency, the new song captures the coolness of a midsummer rain shower and the youthful spirit in Hyolyn's unique style. The track features a hot and rising musician, further raising expectations.
BTS member Jungkook will release his solo digital single 'Seven' on July 14th. The song, a summer track exuding a cheerful melody and summer vibes, showcases Jungkook's charm. The album image features the song title 'Seven', Jungkook's English name, and the number '7' superimposed on a white background. The anticipation is high to see what Jungkook will deliver in his first official solo performance.
NCT DREAM will release their third full-length album 'ISTJ' on July 17th. The album includes a total of 10 songs, including the title track 'ISTJ.' The title track is a hybrid hip hop dance song with a compelling dramatic story about two opposite personalities coming together to create a love story. Hitmaker Kenzie contributed to the lyrics and composition, collaborating once again with NCT DREAM.
NewJeans will release their second mini-album 'Get Up' on July 21st. The album includes six songs in total, with the triple title tracks 'Super Shy,' 'ETA,' and 'Cool With You,' along with 'New Jeans,' 'Get Up,' and 'ASAP.' NewJeans took the ambitious step of producing music videos for all six tracks, suggesting a focus on more diverse music. In addition to these acts, 'Summer Queens' Oh My Girl, Soyou, and others are also planning comebacks in July.
