A fascinating peek into the Duchess of Sussex's pre-royal past is offered via an old curriculum vitae (CV) of Meghan Markle, recently shared online. The resumé gives an intriguing account of her myriad skills, ranging from language proficiency to an aptitude for various sports.
Published on Facebook, the resumé, which accompanies a monochrome headshot of the duchess, details Markle's impressive language skills and her ability to slip into several dialects. The Daily Mail, which first reported the story, quotes from the CV: "Fluent in Spanish, French proficiency, dialects (Southern, French, Spanish, Argentine)."
Apart from her linguistic capabilities, the CV throws light on Markle's talents in various physical activities such as "kickboxing, tap, dance, ballet, jazz dance, and musical theater." The timeline for the creation and usage of the resumé remains uncertain, as it does not bear any date. The Daily Mail speculates it was crafted before 2006 when Markle landed a spot as a suitcase model for the game show "Deal or No Deal."
Prior to this, Markle's TV and film career consisted of minor roles, like her 2001 two-episode stint on "General Hospital" where she portrayed a nurse named Jill. Her theater credentials were more extensive, showcasing her as Annie in the play "July/Star to Be" and Little Red Riding Hood in "Into The Woods."
The resurfacing of Markle's CV comes amidst recent derogatory comments from Jeremy Zimmer, CEO of United Talent Agency (UTA). Zimmer publicly criticized the Duchess of Sussex's talent following the dissolution of her Spotify deal. As one of Hollywood's leading three agencies, UTA represents a roster of big names such as Mariah Carey and M. Knight Shyamalan.
Zimmer expressed his thoughts at a French marketing festival, saying, "Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent. Fame does not equate to excellence." The Duchess of Sussex has yet to publicly respond to these remarks.
Page Six, however, quoting an industry source, suggests that Zimmer had been eager to secure Markle as a client, with one of his agents "actively pursuing her" recently.
In a twist of events, Markle opted to sign with UTA's competitor, WME, in April. The firm, led by Ari Emmanuel, has delegated agents Brad Slater and Jill Smoller to represent the duchess. Slater, known for his role as brand architect for Dwayne Johnson, and Smoller, the longstanding agent for Serena Williams, are now part of Markle's professional entourage.
