In an unexpected turn of events, former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who faced an abrupt termination from the network, is speculated to be considering a return, following the dismissal of CNN's embattled CEO Chris Licht, insiders informed.
Despite his plan to take a summer sabbatical, the 57-year-old broadcaster seems open to exploring discussions about a potential "homecoming" to the network that ousted him in April, sources shared. This would be a striking shift of circumstances, given the acrimonious nature of his exit.
Lemon revealed his firing in a public statement, expressing his dismay at the impersonal manner of his dismissal after a 17-year stint. He stated, “I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.”
Lemon's friction with Licht, 51, over various matters, including his on-air remarks about women and attire, was well-known. "Don passionately believes Chris masterminded his exit but is now convinced common sense has finally prevailed," shared an insider. “Chris’ departure paves the way for Don and others who had their heads chopped off to go back on air and start anew.
"CNN is in Don's blood. He's been a lost soul since leaving the network and thinks everyone misses him, too, even if they're not allowed to say it.”
However, skeptics suggest that Lemon's potential return could lead to a full-blown revolt within the network. “Truth is, bringing Don back would cause total mutiny,” disclosed the insider. “Many people think he's a spoiled brat who got what he deserved.”
