Jamie Foxx, the revered actor and Oscar winner, is on the mend following an undisclosed medical situation. Despite his absence from recent red-carpet events and mounting public speculation about his health, Foxx is reported to be doing well, according to his colleague, Porscha Coleman.
Foxx had been out of the public eye since his unexpected hospitalization in April, triggering wide-ranging conjecture about his well-being. However, Coleman, who shared the screen with Foxx in "Dad Stop Embarrassing Me," assured Entertainment Tonight at the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday that her co-star is in good spirits.
"I have been in touch with those close to Jamie, and I can confirm that he is recuperating well. It's unfortunate that media outlets continue to fuel speculation without accurate information," Coleman told ET, hinting at the swirl of rumors about Foxx's health.
Foxx's known penchant for privacy came as no surprise to Coleman. "Jamie has always kept a low profile, whether it's about his relationships or other aspects of his life. His current approach to his health is exactly what I would expect from him - he's resting and recovering. And rest assured, he will bounce back."
Reflecting on their camaraderie on the Netflix sitcom, Coleman reminisced about how the cast would often indulge in lighthearted fun off-camera. She is eagerly anticipating Foxx's return.
"I can't wait to see him again. I know he's doing well and he has some exciting projects lined up. Jamie's got music in the pipeline that I'm excited about. Foxx, we love you!" she concluded.
Foxx was notably absent from the premiere of "They Cloned Tyrone" at the American Black Film Festival in Florida earlier in June.
John Boyega, Foxx's co-star in the film, revealed that he has not been in touch with Foxx since his health scare. "I hoped he would be here, but he's dealing with his health right now, and we send him our best wishes," Boyega told ET at the event. "I've tried reaching out and will continue to do so. I hope he answers soon. Jamie, pick up!"
Earlier in the month, Foxx's representative vehemently denied speculations about Foxx's health aired on Dr. Drew Pinsky's online show, deeming them "utterly incorrect."
A gossip columnist on the show claimed that Foxx was "partially paralyzed" and "blind" after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, further alleging that the "Project Power" star was compelled to take the vaccine to maintain his Hollywood career and that it led to a stroke.
These unsubstantiated allegations, which Pinsky did not contest, were widely disseminated to his vast audience.
Foxx's daughter, Corinne, revealed in mid-May that her father had been "discharged from the hospital weeks ago" and was "on the mend". She shared that he was well enough to engage in his beloved sport, pickleball.
Corinne expressed disappointment with the media frenzy surrounding her father's health on Instagram. "My dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, and he is recuperating. He even played pickleball yesterday! We appreciate everyone's prayers and support!" she wrote.
