Pete Davidson, the popular comedian, and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are locked in a fiery feud. This public spat ignited after PETA chided Davidson for acquiring a puppy from a pet shop rather than opting for adoption from a shelter.
Davidson expressed his vehement displeasure in an expletive-heavy voice message left for Daphna Nachminovitch, PETA's Senior or Vice President of Cruelty Investigations. "F**k you!" Davidson retaliated in the voice note, "Suck my d**k!"
The argument arose from Davidson's recent purchase of a puppy, which Nachminovitch termed a "tragedy". PETA maintains that buying pets from stores bolsters the cruel puppy mill industry, even though the organization itself has been under scrutiny for its dramatic activist tactics, such as hurling blood-red paint on celebrities who don fur coats.
Davidson later revealed that he made the purchase shortly after his mother's dog, Henry, passed away. The family sought to replace their lost pet with a hypoallergenic Cavapoo breed due to Davidson's allergies, which he believed could only be procured from a pet store. PETA, however, retorts that Davidson could have adopted a Cavapoo—a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle mix—from a shelter, urging him to "do the right thing and adopt next time."
Davidson Facing Charges of Reckless Driving Following Beverly Hills Collision
In a separate development, Davidson is facing a misdemeanor count of reckless driving related to a car crash earlier this year in Beverly Hills. Greg Risling, Assistant Chief of Media Relations at the LA County District Attorney's office, revealed the charge, with Davidson's arraignment set for July 27.
Risling stated, "We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home," adding that it was fortunate no severe injuries occurred. Davidson reportedly drove his car into a fire hydrant and a house on a residential street around 11 pm PT on March 4.
Representatives for Davidson have yet to comment on the charge.
Expressing concern over a surge in traffic fatalities in Los Angeles in 2022, Risling further emphasized, "This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. As a result, it’s crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable."
