In the aftermath of recent physical missteps, even some of the most dedicated followers of President Joe Biden are expressing concerns about his health and potential ability to seek re-election, according to insiders from Washington D.C.
President Biden's recent stumble over a sandbag at the June 1 graduation ceremony at the Air Force Academy and subsequent incident where he hit his head while exiting a helicopter have stoked fears about his physical health and fitness for office.
These concerns have been echoed by Dr. Ronny Jackson, a former White House physician for both the Trump and Obama administrations, who currently serves as a Republican congressman. "The idea that this man, who's 80 now, believes he can run for president at 86, could be a strategic misstep on part of the White House," Jackson asserts.
This concern comes only a week after GLOBE reported that Biden may be suffering from peripheral neuropathy, a condition associated with brain deterioration. According to lifespan expert Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who does not treat Biden personally, the disorder is caused by "extensive nerve damage that results in loss of muscle control and strength" which, while normal in older individuals like the president, is not a condition that simply disappears.
As Biden reportedly gears up for his reelection bid, he's facing significant criticism for physical frailties that have resulted in at least eight public tumbles and a series of verbal gaffes. Some experts argue these could be early symptoms of dementia.
Dr. Mirkin suggests there may be a link between the president's physical issues and cognitive decline. "There is a medically established connection between muscle weakness, lack of coordination, and declining memory and mental capacity. This seems to be occurring at an expedited rate in this case," comments the Florida-based doctor.
As the oldest-serving U.S. president in history, Biden is also facing internal party criticism as he continues to stumble, mix up facts, and display questionable recollections.
Recent polling data indicates only 37% of Democrats believe Biden should pursue a second term. A source reveals, "Having the president in the news for stumbles, minor injuries, or confusion over facts is gradually eroding his standing, providing ammunition to his opposition who are exploiting the precarious state of his health."
