Reports of King Charles' decision to allegedly not extend an invitation to his youngest son, Prince Harry, for Trooping the Color, have elicited reactions from royal experts.
Notable socialite and author of royal affairs, Lady Colin Campbell, alongside esteemed British journalist and royal biographer Phil Dampier, joined Dan Wootton on the recent installment of "GB News." The threesome deliberated on the perceived decision by the King not to include Prince Harry in his inaugural birthday parade.
Wootton, hailing this as "great news," probed Campbell, author of "Meghan and Harry," for her insights.
"Harry's exclusion is, in fact, a wise move," asserted Campbell. "Harry's actions, viewed by many as disloyal, reveal his complete disregard for the monarchy and its values in our nation. He's been incessantly critical of the press and the government. He fails to remember that the British royal family is a foundational pillar of our constitution and holds worldwide respect. Harry, however, being part of it, seems to take cheap shots at everything, including the monarchy. It would have been foolish of Charles to invite him."
When Wootton inquired if Dampier shared Campbell's views, the author of "Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words" echoed the same sentiments.
"Let's remember, this isn't a simple family birthday bash. The upcoming Saturday is an immensely significant day. We're anticipating a spectacular event, including the sight of King Charles on horseback, a spectacle not seen since the Queen rode in 1986," Dampier highlighted.
He mentioned that the parade would also feature Prince William, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne, adding to the grandeur of the event. He concurred that it was appropriate for the Duke of Sussex to be omitted from this spectacle.
Dampier expressed, "Harry's invitation would have been implausible. Frankly, I doubt he would have attended even if invited. By now, if any substantive dialogue were to occur, it would have transpired weeks ago."
He further expressed his conviction that the current state of affairs underscores the persisting rift between King Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry as being as deep as ever.
The grand celebration of King Charles' first Trooping the Colour is slated for the coming Saturday.
