Chris Christie, while launching his presidential campaign on June 6, turned the spotlight onto Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, accusing them of being part of questionable business practices.
In a video posted by Axios National Correspondent Alex Thompson, Christie left no room for misinterpretation. He said, "The financial exploitation linked with this family is simply staggering. Can you believe it? Ivanka and Jared Kushner exit the White House, and a few months later, they pocket $2 billion from Saudi Arabia? Ask yourself, is this because they possess some exceptional investment acumen, or is it due to Kushner's close association with the U.S. president for four years, granting favors to the Saudis?"
Following their White House departure, a fund overseen by the Saudi crown prince funneled a $2 billion investment into Kushner's company.
"It's your hard-earned money that has been pilfered and handed over to his kin. This isn't a democratic republic; it mirrors a banana republic," Christie continued.
Christie, a 60-year-old former prosecutor, has a longstanding connection to the Kushners. He was responsible for the prosecution of Charles Kushner, Jared's father, who pleaded guilty in 2005 to 18 charges, including tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions, and witness tampering.
As previously noted by OK!, Christie has not held back in expressing his criticism of former ally Donald Trump, aged 76.
The campaign launch in New Hampshire marked what Christie termed "the commencement of the case against Donald Trump." He said, "Wishful thinking and hope won't lead to victory. The mantra of 'There’s no place like home’ won’t help you win. If you want to defeat someone in American politics, you need to confront them head-on.”
Christie further warned of the potential turmoil if Trump were to regain the presidency.
"Let's not forget, Donald Trump is a television personality, nothing more, nothing less," Christie cautioned. "Allow me to propose that returning him to the White House will result in sequels far more disastrous than the original episodes.”
