Blake Shelton anticipated that departing 'The Voice' would lead to more quality time with his beloved wife, Gwen Stefani. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Stefani committed to another season on the show, leaving Shelton in the lurch, according to insiders.
Now, the country star, who stands at a towering 6'5", is said to be compelled to publicly support Stefani's decision, despite his personal disappointment. "Behind the scenes, he's not singing the same happy song," a close source divulged.
Despite hosting his own game show on the USA Network, insiders suggest that Shelton, 46, is not looking forward to spending long hours alone at home while his 53-year-old spouse is engaged in filming the popular singing contest.
"Blake isn't the type to enjoy his own company," the insider hinted. "He believed that by stepping away from 'The Voice,' he was making life easier for Gwen. However, she made a different choice. He is at a loss without Gwen's guiding presence and dreads the idea of solitary meals."
The source further disclosed that Stefani is grappling with her husband's dependency, which she perceives as childlike. "She wants to savor this period of her career, but his constant complaints are starting to irk her. For the sake of their relationship, Blake must adapt," the source added.
Readers of GLOBE may recall that rumors of tension within the couple's relationship have circulated since they exchanged vows at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch in July 2021 and purchased a house in Los Angeles.
There are whispers that Stefani is feeling smothered by Shelton's constant presence. "This is her opportunity to regain some personal space," the source speculated. "For Gwen's sake, Blake must accept the situation. After all, it's her turn to shine."
