A 30-year-old man, Rymir Satterthwaite, is pushing forward with his decade-long claim that he is the unacknowledged offspring of rap legend and billionaire entrepreneur Jay-Z, alleging that the music icon has used his vast resources to evade a paternity test.
Satterthwaite contends that he is the product of a brief relationship between Jay-Z, then 22, and his mother, Wanda, who was a 16-year-old high school student in the early 1990s. While Jay-Z's legal team has rejected Satterthwaite's assertions, Jay-Z has conceded the past romantic relationship with Wanda but has purportedly denied undergoing a paternity test.
Despite having his case turned down by New Jersey's Supreme Court, Satterthwaite remains undeterred. He has sought the Appellate Court's assistance to unseal the claim he initially submitted at the age of 21, emphatically stating, “This is not going to be over until justice is served. I won’t stop fighting for this until I win. And I will win because the law is on our side.”
Intriguingly, Jay-Z's name does not appear on Satterthwaite's birth certificate. When Satterthwaite was born, his mother was involved with Robert Graves, her high school love, who was present for the birth and listed as the father on the certificate. However, Satterthwaite asserts that his mother revealed the truth when he was eight, professing that Jay-Z was his biological father.
Satterthwaite emphasizes that his objective isn't to pursue any financial gain from Jay-Z, whose estimated worth stands at $2.5 billion, but rather to see "justice served." He earnestly expresses, as reported by the Globe, “I just want to live my life and, when it is all said and done, I hope that Jay-Z would want to be a part of my life, if that is God’s will.” His quest for acknowledgment and validation from the rap mogul continues, adding yet another twist in the ongoing saga of his paternity dispute.
