Singer and actress Madonna remembered actor Mark Blum who passed away on Thursday. The cause of his death was complications suffered from the pandemic coronavirus.
Madonna paid tribute to Mark Blum, her co-star in the movie “Desperately Seeking Susan." The actress took to her Instagram account and honored her late friend.
The 61-year-old actress-singer also posted a picture of Blum and herself on Instagram from the same film, which was released in 1985, Today mentions. She was emotional and cited his death as a tragic one.
The actress also expressed solidarity for the late actor’s loved ones and family. The pop singer remembered Blum as a “funny warm loving” person, who was also extremely professional when they filmed the movie.
The tribute also included her appeal to people to help to stop the spread of the pandemic and stay at home. She mentioned in her post that it was a reminder all over again that the virus is not a joke, Billboard reports.
She ended her post stating that everyone should be grateful, as well as, be positive and help one another. Madonna also wants all her fans to follow the rules of the quarantine properly.
The late actor belonged to New Jersey and began his acting career in the seventies. Soon, he created a niche for himself as a popular character artist. Blum was seen as the onscreen husband of actress Rosanna Arquette in “Desperately Seeking Susan.”
He has also acted in several other movies including “Just Between Friends” and “Crocodile Dundee” in 1986, “Blind Date” in 1987, “The Presdio” in 1988, and “Shattered Glass” in 2003 apart from a string of TV series.
His appearances on television include “NYPD Blue," “Frasier," “Billions," and “Succession” among others. Blum was, recently, seen in a recurring role of “You” Season 1 where he played the part of a bookstore owner called Mr. Mooney who is also a father figure to Joe, the main character.
Apart from his onscreen roles, the late actor was also a regular in the theater community of New York. Stars of both stage and screen such as Bernadette Peters and Rosanna Arquette also paid their respects to this departed actor on Thursday.
James Gunn, the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy” paid a tribute to Mark Blum stating that the late actor was the first boss of his brother then they had relocated to New York City. Blum was 69-year-old when he passed away.
