Former "Made in Chelsea" star Millie Mackintosh revealed on her "Mumlemmas" podcast that her friendship with Meghan Markle fell apart after the Duchess of Sussex began dating Prince Harry in 2016.
Mackintosh, 33, shared details of their relationship and how she felt "snubbed" by Meghan, 41, after trying to offer support during the media frenzy surrounding her royal romance.
According to Mackintosh, she provided Meghan with a "little black book" of contacts and tips when the actress first moved to London and the two bonded over their shared experiences with divorce.
While they weren't best friends, they did spend time together on several occasions, with Mackintosh recalling their last meeting during a trip to the Cotswolds.
However, after news broke of Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry, Mackintosh reached out to her friend with a supportive message, only to receive a cold response.
"I messaged her and said, 'hey I hope you're OK, thinking of you,' and she sent me this really abrupt message, that was really unlike any of our communication before," Mackintosh explained.
The reality star expected that they would stay in touch and thought Meghan would eventually respond with an apology for her curt message. Instead, Mackintosh never heard from her again and felt as though Meghan had essentially told her to "f*** off."
Mackintosh believes Meghan's entry into the royal world led to her distancing herself from their friendship. "My take on it is that, this is my instinct as why it happened at the time, she thought, 'right, I'm gonna be royal now, I don't need Millie in my life.' I was on a reality show at the time. She thought, 'I can't be associated with Made In Chelsea, I'm gonna be royal,'" the podcaster concluded.
