Former President Donald Trump has expressed his strong disapproval after a jury found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation in the civil trial involving E. Jean Carroll on Tuesday, May 9.
Upon hearing the verdict, the 76-year-old former president took to Truth Social to voice his frustration through a series of videos shared with his followers.
Trump targeted Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, stating, "It was a Trump-hating, Clinton-appointed judge, who went out of his way to make sure that the result was as negative as it could possibly be." He continued, "Speaking to and in control of a jury from an anti-Trump area, which is probably the worst place in the U.S. for me to get a fair trial, we will be appealing this decision. It's a disgrace."
Claiming ignorance of Carroll's identity, Trump asserted, "I don't even know who this woman is. I have no idea who she is, where she came from, this is another scam. It's a political witch hunt and somehow we're going to have to fight the system. We cannot let our country go into this abyss. This is disgraceful."
As previously reported by OK!, Trump was ordered to pay $5 million in damages to Carroll for abusing her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the '90s.
Carroll, on the other hand, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome. In an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America, she said, "Yesterday was probably the happiest day of my life." She added, "I was always shaken, but I felt strong because I knew I was telling the truth and I just stuck to it."
