Prince Harry is set to attend King Charles' coronation in the U.K., but unlike his brother Prince William, he will not have an official role in the ceremony. The Liturgy of the Coronation Service, which outlines the order of events, prominently features William, but Harry is not mentioned.
During the Saturday, May 6, event, Prince William will participate in several key moments with his father, King Charles. In the Homage of Royal Blood, William will pledge his loyalty, saying, "I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God." Additionally, William will take part in the Stole Royal, assisting the new king with his robe.
Despite Harry's attendance, relations between him and his family remain strained, and the busy schedule of events during the coronation weekend may not provide an opportunity for them to discuss their differences. Kinsey Schofield, host of the royal podcast "To Di For Daily," suggests that the tension between Harry and William is so palpable that "palace staff is planning every entry, exit, and seat with the battling brothers in mind. The palace's ultimate objective is to avoid conflict."
Meghan Markle will not accompany Prince Harry to the coronation, and he is reportedly planning to leave the U.K. just two hours after the ceremony ends. An insider told a news outlet, "He’ll be in and out of the U.K. in 24 hours. He will only be doing the coronation service then leaving."
Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, shared a similar prediction about Harry's plans on a recent episode of GB News. Burrell stated, "It is not a surprise, he is coming to show face. He is coming to put his foot in the door and he is coming because his father wants him to be there." However, Burrell also noted that Harry likely won't spend much time with his family, adding, "There is no chance of a reconciliation anytime soon, I'm afraid — I think he will get a very icy reception from the Windsors."
As the royal family prepares for King Charles' coronation, the ongoing tensions between Harry and his relatives cast a shadow over the event, highlighting the deep divisions within the monarchy.
