Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Respond to Kathleen Turner's Intrusive Comments"
Hollywood couple Michael Douglas, 78, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, 53, have faced numerous challenges during their time together. However, the resurgence of Kathleen Turner's comments about her "wild chemistry" with Michael during the filming of their 1984 hit movie, Romancing the Stone, has pushed the couple to their limit.
Turner, 68, recently conducted an interview in which she discussed her closeness with Michael, who was married to his first wife Diandra Luker at the time, and their on-set "sexual attraction." She also made a patronizing comment about Zeta-Jones, stating that she has "done a great job with him."
Sources close to the couple have revealed that they are fed up with Turner's relentless narrative. One insider shared, “Kathleen is like a thorn in their side. She keeps talking about the chemistry she had with Michael last century, and it’s nauseating for Catherine to be constantly reminded of it.”
Zeta-Jones is also heartbroken that her husband's past indiscretions are being brought to light once again, especially since she believes he has changed. The source explained, “Michael and Catherine have been together for over 20 years now and their kids are in college. So, it’s embarrassing for all of them to be reminded of their dad’s philandering before he settled down with their mum.”
The Chicago actress is reportedly "fuming" about the condescending remarks made about their marriage. The insider added, “This isn’t the first time Kathleen’s used her connection with Michael to promote her latest project, but this time, saying Catherine deserved credit for staying with Michael is really twisted.”
Despite the irritation caused by Turner's inability to move on from the past, the situation has brought Douglas and Zeta-Jones closer together as a couple. The source said, “Whatever Kathleen’s reasons, it’s only brought Catherine and Michael closer.”
Michael recently attended the opening night of the new Broadway play Good Night, Oscar without Catherine, choosing instead to be accompanied by their son, Dylan, 22. Insiders suggest that Zeta-Jones, a theater enthusiast, would have loved to attend the event but opted to stay out of the limelight due to the recent controversy. A friend explained, “She doesn’t want to be out doing interviews while Kathleen’s words hang over her head.”
