According to palace insiders, Meghan Markle was cleverly persuaded to skip King Charles' coronation as part of the royal family's plan to bring Prince Harry back into the fold without the actress's involvement. A high-level courtier reveals that keeping the Duchess of Sussex, 41, away from the historic event while ensuring her 38-year-old husband attends alone is part of a strategy to permanently distance the royals from Meghan.
The courtier tells The National ENQUIRER, "It's no secret that EVERYONE in the royal family despises Meghan after what she's said and done, and no one wants her anywhere near the coronation or, frankly, anywhere else." Palace officials allegedly sent the Sussexes an invitation with conditions they knew Meghan would refuse, expecting it to spark a significant disagreement between Harry and his American-born wife.
The insider explains, "The royals became aware of cracks in the marriage when Harry publicly admitted Meghan threatened to walk out after he raised his voice during a bitter argument." The royal family reportedly wishes for Harry to leave Meghan and will do whatever it takes to demonstrate his error in judgment.
The coronation invitation was crafted to anger Meghan by stipulating that neither of the Sussexes would have a prominent role, an unbearable notion for the fame-seeking duchess. The courtier adds that their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could not attend due to their young age.
Moreover, Meghan would likely face humiliating public backlash and boos if she returned to Britain, the source claims.
The courtier notes, "The senior royals kept their fingers crossed that Harry's sense of duty would make him feel obligated to fly to London for the most important day of his father's life." Secret discussions between Charles and Harry were aimed at causing further marital discord by forcing Harry to stand up to his controlling wife.
Senior royals opposed both Sussexes traveling from their $15 million California mansion, fearing they would divert attention from Charles and Camilla and leak private conversations in another Netflix docudrama or book. "Meghan and Harry have attacked just about everyone and can't be trusted," the courtier observes.
The plan to exclude Meghan received support from other female royals, including Queen Camilla, who have also experienced the duchess's sharp words and Harry's controversial memoir, Spare.
The palace source concludes, "The royals just want to bring Harry home, pull up the drawbridge, and leave Meghan on the outside. Forever." However, they also anticipate a bitter divorce and custody battle, as well as a scathing tell-all book by Meghan. "But the feeling in the palace is, 'Bring it on!'" says the insider.
