Prince Harry is unlikely to engage with King Charles and Prince William during the upcoming coronation, according to Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell. The Duke of Sussex has reportedly not spoken to his brother since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.
Burrell, who served Diana for over a decade until her sudden death in 1997, believes there is little chance for the estranged brothers to reconcile during their father's May 6 coronation. Speaking to the US Sun, Burrell said Harry could expect a "very icy reception from the Windsors."
In a separate interview with GB News, Burrell suggested that Harry's attendance at King Charles' coronation is merely to "show face." The royal expert claimed that while Charles would be pleased to have both sons present for the momentous occasion, Harry has no intention of lingering.
Recently, Prince Harry announced that he would attend the May 6 ceremony alone, leaving Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, in California. Furthermore, Harry will only be present at the crowning ceremony, opting to skip other events that weekend, including the coronation concert.
The release of Harry's memoir, "Spare," has reportedly upset some royals due to their portrayal in the book. However, Burrell pointed out that Meghan has a valid reason for not attending the coronation festivities, as May 6 coincides with Prince Archie's fourth birthday.
There are rumors that Archie and his sister, Princess Lilibet, were not invited to the coronation, which may have upset the couple. Burrell also accused Harry and Meghan of "titillating" the media by not disclosing their coronation attendance plans for months.
In conclusion, Burrell expressed his belief that attending his father's ceremony is "the least" Harry could do amid their ongoing rift.
