Donald Trump stirred up a range of reactions when he attempted to give his supporters a partially eaten slice of pizza.
The incident took place after the former president spoke at the Lee County GOP's Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in Fort Myers, Florida, on Friday, April 21. Trump then went to the Downtown House of Pizza, accompanied by a crowd of at least 100 supporters. The contentious politician proceeded to distribute pepperoni pizza slices to the enthusiastic patrons, even taking a bite from one and asking, "Does anybody want a piece that I've eaten?"
Though his fans appeared unbothered by the offer, a video of the peculiar interaction later garnered over 3 million views, prompting critics to voice their disapproval on social media.
One Twitter user commented, "Geez… So disgusting," while another responded, "I wouldn't buy or eat anything that touched his foul mouth. He's delusional." Others simply replied with "Gross" or remarked that Trump views his supporters as "peasants."
One individual joked, "Should've taken it. Get a DNA sample," likely alluding to the sexual assault allegations that have been leveled against Trump over the years.
This incident comes on the heels of Trump's attorney, Joe Tacopina, requesting that the 76-year-old be excused from appearing at his own sexual abuse trial. Journalist E. Jean Carroll has accused Trump of raping her in Manhattan in the mid-1990s.
Tacopina argued that Trump's presence at the trial would impose "logistical and financial burdens upon New York City, its residents, and the Court itself." However, Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan, pointed to Trump's numerous public appearances as evidence that he could attend the trial if he genuinely wanted to be there.
Kaplan stated, "If Mr. Trump can find a way to attend wrestling championships, political conventions, civil depositions, and campaign functions, then surely he could surmount the logistics of attending his own federal trial."
