Reese Witherspoon has not gained many fans in Quibi, the company where her husband works.
According to Pop Culture, the actress received a salary of about $6 million from the company for narrating a docuseries. Normally, the high payout would not bother people, but apparently, Quibi is not in a very good position right now.
Workers have had to cut overtime and there have even been some workers who had to be laid off. It does not help that the show that Reese narrated, Fierce Queens, has performed very low on the platform.
But a representative for the company says that there is no truth at all to the $6 million dollar salary being reported, although they ever detailed just how much she received.
He also said the executives of the company actually took a pay cut in order to help the company. And while the company is still underperforming in terms of app downloads and active users, people in leadership believe that the best is yet to come for Quibi. The reason for the low results may be due to the coronavirus pandemic, so hopefully, when the situation gets better, it will also be better for the company.
Meanwhile, Showbiz Cheat Sheet just revealed that Reese Witherspoon almost did get to play her iconic Elle Woods role. Apparently, the executives at MGM did not think that Reese had what it takes to play the role of the ditzy sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School. They thought that she was too serious for Elle's role.
But that's not all! Apparently, the feeling is mutual. Reese admitted that she was not sure that she wanted to play the role as well. She thinks that the role of Elle might be too similar to Cher Horowitz from the movie Clueless so she was not excited about it. But she was assured that that was not the case, so she went to the audition and aced it.
What followed next was a hugely successful movie that made Reese Witherspoon and Elle Woods a household name. Over the next years, she would become one of the most sought after actresses in Hollywood. She even earned an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the movie Walk the Line.
She has branched out to producing too and right now, she is preparing for the next installment to the Legally Blonde series. With fellow actress and writer Mindy Kaling writing, it looks like it will be another hit.
