Jesy Nelson, who rose to fame as part of the popular girl group Little Mix, has shared her perspective on her relationship with her former bandmates after her departure from the band two years ago. The 31-year-old singer has been estranged from her previous group members, but she is now opening up about her experiences as she releases her latest solo single, "Bad Thing."
The singer initially left the band to focus on her mental health, which led to an outpouring of online hate and a difficult fallout with the other three members. Nelson's new single, a poignant ballad with somber melodies and introspective lyrics, touches on issues such as mental illness and abusive relationships.
In an interview with The Sun, Nelson discussed the challenges she faced as a member of Little Mix, saying, "Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don't have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with." Although she cherished the incredible experiences and memories she shared with the group, she ultimately prioritized her mental well-being and decided to step back to take care of herself.
Despite the distance between Nelson and her former bandmates—Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock—she supports their endeavors, praising them as "all crazy talented."
In related news, Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced her upcoming debut memoir, "Believe," set to be released later this year. Pinnock shared the news on Instagram with a video of her holding the book, revealing that it will chronicle the significant moments in her life before she embarks on her solo music journey.
In the video, Pinnock expressed her excitement about the book and the opportunity to reflect on her past experiences: "I feel like I've been in a whirlwind. I've had some life-changing moments that up until now, I've never really had the chance to process." She continued, "So with this in mind and before I embark on this new journey, I want to respect my past; my life, my heritage, family, identity and most importantly, embracing & believing in my own power."
