In his recently published biography, "Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed," author Robert Jobson claims that Prince William can be a challenging colleague due to his driven nature and impatience. The 40-year-old Prince of Wales has been described as "difficult" by a senior royal household source.
The insider revealed, "He is a driven person and that can make him impatient." The source went on to compare Prince William to his father, King Charles, 74, who is portrayed as more patient in comparison. "That can make William short-tempered when dealing with Charles," the source added. "The Boss (Charles) has a temper, too, but it does not go on and on. He can get frustrated and flare up and then, in an instant, it is forgotten about. With William, it is rarely forgotten."
King Charles's own temper was notably evident following Queen Elizabeth's passing last September. He was captured on video angrily gesturing to aides to clear a desk where he was set to sign the Accession Proclamation, which officially made him the monarch of the UK and Commonwealth.
During a visit to the royal residence of Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland, Charles experienced another moment of frustration when dealing with a leaky pen. A viral video captured him seething and wiping away black ink from his hands with a handkerchief.
According to Jobson, Charles has been taken aback by the intensity of his sons' tempers, which remind him of their late mother, Princess Diana. The author writes, "Sometimes the level of belligerence between his sons, and indeed towards him, has shocked Charles."
Prince Harry, 38, detailed many confrontations with his brother, William, in his memoir, "Spare." After Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021, the brothers and their father met in an effort to mend their strained relationship. However, the conversation turned sour, with the brothers' heated exchange prompting King Charles to step in.
In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex recounts his father's plea to him and Prince William not to "make [his] final years a misery" as their tempers flared during the tense meeting.
