Kelly Clarkson, the 41-year-old American Idol alum, is reportedly resorting to an unusual diet plan in preparation for her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency.
Sources claim that Clarkson is attempting to lose weight by replacing meals with wine, raising concerns about her health. "She's an emotional eater and loves her potatoes, but it's easier to ditch the carbs than it is to ditch her wine," an insider shared, cited by National Enquirer.
Clarkson has faced challenges since her 2020 split from Brandon Blackstock, 46, and insiders say she frequently turns to food and wine for comfort. The Voice judge has previously admitted to drinking wine during the show's at-home tapings, once remarking to Nick Jonas, "Look, I am in my house, I don't care if it's inappropriate!"
Blake Shelton, a close friend and on-screen rival, revealed Clarkson's penchant for wine, recounting an incident when she spilled so much wine on her shirt that "by the end of the night, it looked like she had been coloring Easter eggs!"
An informant disclosed that Clarkson would "rather swap food calories for wine," and added, "It helps her unwind, so she's skipping breakfast and sipping wine for lunch and dinner and maybe grabbing a frozen entrée."
The "Breakaway" singer is eager to lose weight before her Las Vegas residency in July, where she will face stiff competition from Miranda Lambert and Katy Perry in ticket sales. A source noted that Clarkson has gained approximately 50 pounds since her breakup with Blackstock.
However, there are concerns about Clarkson's health due to her unconventional diet. The source mentioned, "There's worry she's compromising her health, but Kelly figures she'll eat real food after the residency!"
