Kourtney Kardashian recently opened up about why she never married Scott Disick in a special episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians," which offers a behind-the-scenes look at her marriage to Travis Barker.
Before the 43-year-old Poosh founder discovered true love with 47-year-old Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, she had a tumultuous 10-year on-and-off relationship with Scott Disick. The former couple shares three children: 13-year-old Mason, 10-year-old Penelope, and 8-year-old Reign.
Despite several marriage proposals from Disick since 2007, the exes never made it down the aisle and ultimately split in 2015.
Kardashian did not delve into the specifics of why she turned down Disick's proposals, but during Thursday's special episode, she shared her thoughts on marriage, shaped by the loss of her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., in 2003.
According to BuzzFeed News, Kardashian stated, "When my dad died, I remember thinking: 'I never [want to] get married because my dad isn't there to walk me down the aisle.'"
Although she didn't directly mention Disick, Kardashian spoke to Bustle last year about "finding control in the chaos" despite their engagement falling through.
She explained, "I just used to be really indecisive. I felt like I had to poll a lot of people to help me decide things. ... I think it was in a time when I may be felt more insecure or not in the greatest relationships."
In an episode of E! reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" from over a decade ago, Kardashian and Disick nearly eloped in Las Vegas, as reported by People. However, Kris Jenner intervened, convincing her daughter that the marriage was "wrong" and felt rushed.
Disick reportedly proposed again in 2011, only for Kardashian to reject him as she was already "happy" with the status of their relationship. In 2017, they considered marriage once more, with Disick privately proposing, but the two "got scared" and never discussed it again.
Five years after their split, Disick held onto hope that he and Kardashian would "eventually get married and live a good life." Instead, Kardashian found love with Barker, marrying him in a lavish ceremony in Portofino, Italy, in May of last year.
In anticipation of the couple's first anniversary, they released "The Kardashians" special, titled "Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis," providing an inside look at their three wedding ceremonies. The reality show's third season is set to premiere on May 25.
"Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis" is currently available on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ in the U.K.
