Amanda Bynes experienced turmoil in her relationship just one week before being discovered wandering the streets naked, leading to her hospitalization. According to her ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, the couple broke up ahead of her mental breakdown.

Michael disclosed to TMZ that two weeks before Bynes' crisis, she disappeared for three days and came home with another man. Following an argument, Bynes stated she no longer cared about him, and the couple ended their relationship. Michael then moved out of their shared home.

Michael expressed surprise at Bynes' sudden change in behavior, as she had seemed stable and focused on her nail care business until that point. He believes something occurred that drastically affected her mental state, making her seem like a different person when she returned home with the other man. Just over a week later, Bynes' condition deteriorated.

TMZ previously reported that on March 19, Bynes was found walking near Downtown L.A. without any clothes. She flagged down a car and informed the driver she was recovering from a psychotic episode. Bynes borrowed the driver's phone and called 911 herself, leading to her being placed on a psychiatric hold for three and a half weeks.

Michael has not spoken to Bynes since leaving their home. Currently, Bynes is receiving outpatient care.

Multiple reports indicate that Bynes was discharged from a mental health facility after a three-week stay. TMZ sources close to the actress said she left a Southern California hospital on Monday after both medical professionals and Bynes determined she was ready. Bynes, 37, will continue outpatient treatment as she resumes her regular activities. NBC News confirmed Bynes' release and her ongoing outpatient care.

Neither Bynes' representative nor her family has made a public statement about the situation.

In March 2022, Bynes was freed from a nine-year conservatorship with her parents' support. Following the termination, Bynes expressed her gratitude to her fans, attorney, and parents for their support throughout the years. She also shared her excitement for future projects, including her fragrance line.

TMZ reports that Bynes' parents are not considering another conservatorship.
