As the coronation of King Charles approaches, tensions within the British royal family are escalating, with Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, reportedly taking charge in the standoff against Prince Harry and Meghan.
However, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie find themselves in a difficult position due to their close relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, according to palace insiders.
"Kate will not tolerate the cousins being all cozy with William one minute, then sneaking off with Meghan and Harry the next," reveals a source. "Eugenie, especially, has made a habit out of playing both sides."
The Princess of Wales is concerned that the princesses might inadvertently share sensitive information with the California-based Sussexes, who have profited from revealing palace secrets in the past.
An insider notes, "Bea and Eugenie know a lot of things about future planning within the monarchy and the dynamic inside Kate's nuclear family."
With King Charles' coronation set for May 10, sources say Kate is preparing for any potential issues. "Kate likes Eugenie and Beatrice, but there's no getting away from the awkward fact they're on extremely close terms with Harry and Meghan," says an insider.
Though not explicitly dictating their actions, Kate has reportedly reminded the York sisters to be cautious about sharing private or sensitive information with Harry and Meghan.
Both Beatrice and Eugenie, daughters of Prince Andrew, are said to sympathize with Harry and Meghan but are expected to comply with Kate's request. "When Kate puts her foot down like this, they know better than to go against the future queen's wishes," says the source.
