In an unanticipated visit to London this week, Prince Harry appeared at the High Court on Monday morning for a privacy hearing against Associated Newspapers. Speculation arose as to whether he would take the opportunity to meet with his family during his trip. However, it seems that the reunion did not take place.
The Telegraph reports that Prince Harry informed his father, King Charles, that he would be in London for the court hearing but claimed he was too "busy" to visit. Furthermore, Harry is reportedly staying at Frogmore Cottage, just a short distance from Prince William and Kate Middleton's Adelaide Cottage residence. However, The Express states that Harry will not see the Prince and Princess of Wales, as they are currently away for their children's "half term" holidays.
Although King Charles had initially planned to be in France during Harry's visit, his trip was canceled, leaving him in the country.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams spoke to The Express about the unexpected nature of Harry's appearance, saying, "The problem with this appearance is that it is a surprise appearance and the Sussexes do like to surprise. They're always unpredictable and nobody expected this."
Fitzwilliams elaborated on the timing of the visit, noting that King Charles is scheduled to travel to Germany on Wednesday and that it would be challenging for Harry and the King to find common ground.
He explained, "It's very hard to see what he and the King would have to say to each other because can you trust saying anything sensitive when it might very well appear in a book or article? The Prince and Princess of Wales are also on holiday apparently with their children."
It is worth noting that Prince Harry could return to England in a few weeks for King Charles' coronation, but neither he nor Meghan Markle have confirmed their plans at this time.
